The volume of information that an organization has to handle continues to increase as the business progresses making information management a dreadful assignment. Apart from the increase of business information, businesses are now embracing the trend of paperless working environment. Physical documents are now being transformed into electronic information for efficient archiving. Users can integrate additional components provided by either Microsoft itself or any third party vendor. It functions similar to other web based applications hosted on a dedicated server and accessed by multiple users.

It includes support for multiple browsers used in the cloud and supports Silverlight Web Part that allows administrators to integrate Silverlight applications with no hassle. With a simplified yet robust implementation and design, organizations are envisioned to save from its IT infrastructures, while enhancing search and collaboration solutions. SharePoint also enables organizations to compose solutions that will be available for everyone in the organization.
